Working as a part of the Community and Place team, he uses the learnings and range of experiences of many to plan and provide essential infrastructure to the community. In recognising the benefits of physical activity, social wellbeing and connectivity, PLA WA has recently developed a recreation strategy checklist and guide that has been developed with the local WA industry, for Local Government Authorities to reference in the creation of their recreation strategy.
Developing a Recreation Strategy: a best practice checklist for the industry
With the increase in community mental and physical health issues and the urbanisation of our cities, there is a growing need for more and varied recreation opportunities. Local Governments and other organisations alike, are seeing the need to develop recreation facility and infrastructure strategies to ensure opportunities are well planned and evidence based to meet the needs of their community. With this in mind, PLA WA has developed, a peer reviewed 'How to guide' that organisations can follow, to plan and develop a recreation infrastructure strategy, in an easy step-by-step checklist format. This presentation will launch and provide you with a snapshot of the 'How to guide', discussing the approach taken and outlining the key stages for consideration. Following on from the presentation, the 'How to guide' will be available for you to pursue.
