Shahna Rhind

Community Development Officer, City of Perth

I am a strong and proud descendent of an Yamatji woman and Afghan cameleer from the Mt Magnet area. My background and qualifications are in Secondary High School Teaching.

The past six years I have been working in Community Development and engagement with local government. My passion is to empower Aboriginal people to be strong in their Identity and culture so they can be leaders in the community. I am a strong advocate for engagement and inclusion of Aboriginal peoples voice in every decision we make for them.

Georgia Lilley

Urban Planner - Strategy, City Planning, City of Perth

I was born in Alice Springs and for the first 10 years of my life my backyard was the 'outback'. My family moved around a lot, finally settling in Perth where I completed postgraduate qualifications in Anthropology and Town Planning. However, I decided not to pursue this career path and instead became an international entrepreneur running my own design business between multiple countries.

However, the GFC hit and I decided to come back home and change career. I observed notable gaps in Perth's 'liveability' as a city and decided I wanted to challenge the current thinking around 'good town planning outcomes'. This saw me complete a Masters in Town Planning, writing a thesis A Place To Go: How May Repurposing Underutilised Neighbourhood Centres Create Great Public Places in Perth's Greyfield Suburbs?

I am currently a Strategic Urban Planner at the City of Perth and I love this job as it gives me the opportunity to be part of creating a city that is inclusive to all, especially Aboriginal people.
