The Making of Perth's Stadium Park - Reconnecting with Nature
The story of the making of Stadium Park, exploring how this city scale parkland was conceived, planned, designed and delivered. This presentation will explain how a degraded site on the eastern fringe of Perth City Centre has now been healed both environmentally and culturally to create a new landmark for the city, a shift towards sport and recreation, and a celebration of the natural environment in the east.
The potential of the site has been unlocked from a golf course and maximised through urban design, landscape architecture, research, engagement, art, stories and environmental rehabilitation to activate Stadium Park for people to enjoy in a rich, vibrant and connected way.
Through the journey of delivering Chevron Parkland, the nature playground within Stadium Park, the importance of access to nature for people's wellbeing particularly children will be a focus of the session.
