TrailRiders Providing all Abilities access to Parks

Mobility issues associated with disability are complex and affect a growing number of people in the community. A growing body of evidence shows that contact with nature has far reaching community health and well being benefits. Prior to the introduction of the TrailRider program and the development of the TrailRider Grading System, many people with a physical disability were unable to adequately access parks. The TrailRider program and the TrailRider Grading System enable many more people with a physical disability to have a safe and fulfilling experience in our parks at previously inaccessible locations. The talk will introduce Parks Victoria's TrailRider program, the well-being benefits to participants and explore the development of the TrailRider grading system.
