Live Nature Wise
The People and Parks Foundation has developed a highly innovative program in the internationally growing field of nature-based health interventions. Building on the Parks & Leisure awarded program, Active in Parks, "Live Nature Wise" seeks clinical health and wellbeing outcomes through nature-based interventions, as well as increased, ongoing acts of conservation and sustainability from participants. The health interventions are effective across prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery for non-communicable chronic disease and mental health. The nature settings extend from people's backyards or balconies, to local green spaces, to our awe-inspiring national parks. The program has a public component, Take It Outside, and a targeted, referral component, Nature Scripts.
Bringing together health, mental health, urban planning and biodiversity policies, Live Nature Wise is a unique programmatic response to the Victorian ministerial memo on Health and Nature, with national applicability. The ultimate outcome of this program is healthier people, places and planet.
